When does registration open?

March 1.

I heard that the 5K is hard to finish. Should I just do the 2.5K?

Only you can make that decision.  One factor to consider is that In addition to it being twice as long at the 2.5K, the current will begin to pick up and depending on your speed this may require you to swim even harder during the 2nd loop to finish.

I signed up for the 5K and want to change to the 2.5K. Can I?

Yes, by informing NYOW through email or in person during swimmer check in

What is the average water temperature?

As always there are NO guarantees on water temperature but this swim has historically ranged from 62-68 F.

Is the water clean?

The health of the Hudson continues to improve and many of us enjoy swimming in her on a regular basis. Historical water quality reports can be found at Riverkeeper.org.

Is there support in the water?

There will be a range of support including some or all of the following: boats, RHIBS, jet skis, kayaks, paddleboards and swim angels.

Are wetsuits allowed for this swim?

Yes, but you will be placed in a different categories for your record of completion and any awards.

I signed up for the swimsuit category but want to switch to wetsuit category at the last minute. Can I?

Yes, by informing NYOW through email or in person during swimmer check in

I have had an injury and have been instructed to use supportive KT tape. Is it acceptable by your rules for me to wear it during the swim?
